Hey, there, all you “Breaking Bad” fans!
Are you getting as antsy as I am for August 11th? How do you think the show will end? How do you want it to end? Have you watched all the previous seasons? Who’s your favorite character?
I got the first season of BB from the library last fall on the strength of “Fresh Air” TV critic David Bianculli’s recommendation, and was soon hooked. I don’t seek out violence — in fact, I avoid it as much as possible, but I’m a sucker for good writing, acting, and production, and, man, this show has it all…Now I own all of the available DVDs, and plan to watch the last 8 episodes on Amazon.com, then buy the final DVD set when as soon as it’s released.
I should mention that I also went through the same thing with “The Wire,” but I haven’t re-watched it yet. What other shows do you like to watch? I like tea and crumpet stuff like “Downtown Abbey,” any realistic, well-written, well-acted drama, and have recently started watching “Justified” on Amazon Prime.
But back to BB…I’ve enjoyed listening to the “Breaking Good” podcast about the show at Baldmove.com, and, of course, the “Breaking Bad Insider” podcast with Kelley Dixon, one of the show’s editors.
What I’m doing now, in preparation for the show’s final episodes is watching all the previous seasons over again. I want to catch as much as possible and have a terrible memory, so I’m actually writing down plot points, dialogue, and my thoughts on what’s happening as I go, pausing every minute or two. I’ve typed it all up for Season 1 (I practically have a script for the first episode!), and am now about to watch Season 2. As soon as I can I’ll put everything I’ve written into the Pages section (look for it in the right hand sidebar), in case you want to read it in its entirety. Comments welcome.
‘Cause that’s what I hope this will be…a meeting place for us diehard fans, who want to question, speculate, and dispute to our heart’s content. Sound good, yo?
